Park visitors traveling on Route 197 should be aware that Caltrans will be doing construction work from postmile 3.2-4.5 starting as early as May 1, 2026. Traffic Delays on U.S. Highway 199 near Patrick Creek
Park visitors traveling on U.S. Highway 199 should be aware that Caltrans will be doing construction work near Patrick Creek ( between post mile 20.3 and 26.5 ) starting as early as May 1, 2026. Traffic delays through the corridor will include 4-hour closures from 10-2pm, Tuesday-Thursday. While the exact schedule for these closures has not yet been finalized, visitors can see up to date information via quickmap.dot.ca.gov and the 197/199 Safe STAA Access Highway Improvement Project webpage on the official Caltrans website.

Ten thousand acres of primeval redwood grove with rhododendron, azalea and deep fern beds banked against fallen trees. Camping, cycling and riding beneath some of the tallest trees on the north coast.
