About Etowah Indian Mounds State Historic Site

Fifty-four acres holding six earthen mounds, a plaza and a defensive ditch — the most intact Mississippian Culture site in the Southeast, occupied from 1000 to 1550 AD. A river trail passes a v-shaped fish trap still in place.
