Posted Jul 10, 2026 - On Saturday, July 18th, Village Creek State Park will be a host to the 43rd Annual MightyMite Triathlon. For the safety of the participants, all park roads will be temporarily closed from 8:00 am until 9:30 am, or until the last athlete has exited the park. Park-side guests: Any travel in and out of the campgrounds, cabins or Day Use Area will need to be done before 8:00 am or after the last triathlete exits the park. Golfers with tee times: Highway 284 between the park entrance and Forrest City will be closed until about 12:00 pm. The golf course will still be accessible through the North side of Highway 284. If you are travelling from Highway 64/64B, you can continue as usual. If you are travelling from Interstate 40, plan to travel north via Highway 1 through Forrest City. Highway 284 is accessible through County Road 744 in Fitzgerald Crossing or via Hamilton Ave to 64B through Wynne. The route via Highway 306 will be closed at the Highway 284 junction.2
Nearly 7,000 acres of forested hills and clear streams on Crowley's Ridge, with two lakes, 10 cabins and 33 miles of multi-use trail — one segment of it the Trail of Tears. An Andy Dye-designed 27-hole championship golf course is here too.
