About Fults Hill Prairie State Natural Area

The largest complex of high-quality loess hill prairies in Illinois rises above the Mississippi floodplain across 997 acres. Dedicated a nature preserve in 1970 and recognised as a National Natural Landmark in 1986, it holds plants found nowhere else in the state.
