About Piney Creek Ravine State Natural Area

One of only two places in Illinois where short-leaf pines grow naturally, on 198 acres bought in 1972 for its rare plants. Habitats run from dry bluff tops with post oak and American agave to moist ravine forest full of spring wildflowers.
