About Illinois and Michigan Canal State Trail

The canal that opened the first water route from the east coast to the Gulf, completed in 1848 and running 96 miles from Bridgeport to LaSalle. Follow the old towpath 61.5 miles from Rockdale past bluffs, state parks and restored sites.
