About Kinkaid Lake State Fish & Wildlife Area

A 2,750-acre lake built in 1968 north of Murphysboro, held between sandstone bluffs and oak-hickory hills. The state manages about 4,000 of the surrounding acres for fishing, hunting and boating; camping is run by others nearby.
