On Saturday, May 16, 2026, all public equestrian trails will be closed due to the Piasa Trail Race. The Piasa Trail Races Equestrian trails will reopen for public use on Sunday, May 17, 2026. Please note: Pere Marquette Stables will remain OPEN. Hikers: Public hiking areas will remain OPEN on Saturday, May 16, 2026 Please be aware that trail runners will be on the trails throughout the day. We ask that all visitors share the trail courteously and use extra awareness during the event. Thank you for your cooperation and support in making this event a success! Winter Visitor Center Hours: Monday–Saturday, 8:00 AM–3:30 PM CLOSED SUNDAYS

About Pere Marquette State Park

Bluff-top overlooks above the Illinois River and its backwaters, with about 230 bird species recorded and bald eagles in the treetops from December to March. The paved Sam Vadalabene Bike Trail runs some 20 miles from the park to Alton.
