Boardwalk Update: The Interpretive Boardwalk into Volo Bog has received temporary repairs allowing for completion of the loop to the eye of Volo Bog. Plans to replace the aging boardwalk is in the works. Current closures Site is closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Seasonal snow events and icy conditions may cause delayed or limited openings.
The only open-water quaking bog in Illinois, formed in a glacial kettlehole and the southernmost in North America to show every stage of bog succession. A floating boardwalk carries you from the marsh moat to the open eye at the centre.
