About Ward Charcoal Ovens State Historic Park

Six beehive-shaped charcoal ovens built in the Egan Range to process silver ore from 1876 to 1879, later shelter for travellers and, by repute, stagecoach bandits. Step inside them, then camp, picnic or fish among mule deer, grouse and elk.
