⚠️ Coyote Canyon Road Closed 5.2 Miles Ahead at 3rd Crossing. ATTENTION: PARKING IS LIMITED AT CLOSURE GATE

On August 19, 2023,Tropical Storm Hilary impacted Coyote Canyon in Anza Borrego Desert State Park diverting Coyote Creek onto Coyote Canyon Dirt Road resulting in a road closure at Lower Willows / third crossing gate to all vehicle traffic.

10.7 miles of Coyote Canyon Dirt Road is closed to vehicle traffic from Lower Willows to Middle Willows, but remains accessible to walk in camping, hikers, cyclists, and equestrians.
State Parks is working to resolve the road closure that provides a safe recreational opportunity for the public while protecting sensitive resources. Please check the Anza Borrego Desert State Park website for the latest road updates and conditions."

Current Restrictions
The annual seasonal closures below will be effective June 1 - September 30.
• Coyote Canyon closed to public use and occupancy from Lower Willows in San Diego County to the northern park boundary in Riverside County.
• Vern Whitaker Horse Camp
• Tamarisk Grove Campground
• Borrego Palm Canyon Tent sites 54-89, 90-99, 111-115
• Borrego Palm Canyon Group Sites G 1-5 & Hike & Bike
The Visitor Center will be open on holidays and weekends only from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. through September 30.
