About Sand Ridge State Forest

The largest of Illinois' state forests, 7,550 acres of oak-hickory woodland, pine plantation and genuine sand prairie left by a prehistoric dry period. Badger, pocket gopher and prickly pear cactus live here, minutes southwest of Peoria.
