About Plaquemine Lock State Historic Site

The historic lock on Bayou Plaquemine, a navigable route into the Louisiana interior since the early 1700s, designed by Panama Canal engineer George Goethals. Visit the ironwork that once lifted boats between the bayou and the Mississippi.
