June 13, 2026 - New world screwworm has been found in parts of Texas.
Check your pets and livestock often. If you see unusual wounds or maggots, do not move the animal. Call the Texas Animal Health Commission at (800) 550‑8242 or contact a private veterinarian.
For wildlife with suspicious wounds or maggots, notify park staff or call (512) 389‑4505.
Park Closure
The Del Norte unit is closed July 17-18, 2026 due to potential flooding.
The Dan A. Hughes unit is closed July 17-18, 2026 due to road conditions. Camping will remain closed July 19-20, 2026.

No Potable Water
May 6, 2026 - Potable (drinkable) water is not available at the Del Norte Unit of the park. Bring water for drinking and cooking for your entire group when you visit.
Burn Ban
Jan. 1, 2026 - No wood fires allowed. You may cook with containerized fuels (i.e. propane).
Paddler Notices
Jan. 1, 2026 - The Baker's Crossing launch is closed due to low flow levels in Devils River. The San Pedro Point launch is still open.
