Virginia State Park
The Jackson Ferry Shot Tower, built more than 200 years ago to drop molten lead from the Austinville mines into ammunition for early settlers. Visitors can climb the 75-foot tower, on the National Register, above the New River.
The grounds are open from Dawn to dusk.
