About Goose Lake Prairie State Natural Area

The largest prairie remnant left in Illinois, 2,537 acres of the grassland that once covered nearly 60 percent of the state. More than half is a dedicated nature preserve, and it still nests threatened birds such as the Henslow's sparrow.
