Goose Lake Prairie will be closed to the public during all firearm deer hunting seasons. The Visitor Center is closed indefinitely. Please expect intermittent closures during the construction phase.
The largest prairie remnant left in Illinois, 2,537 acres of the grassland that once covered nearly 60 percent of the state. More than half is a dedicated nature preserve, and it still nests threatened birds such as the Henslow's sparrow.
