The wells at Lock 22 are not working pending repairs and water tests. Lock 24 has water available but is closed seasonally. Potable water is available year-round at the Visitor's Center. IDNR EAST 2ND STREET BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION NOTICE The East 2nd Street Bridge and the Jim Arduini Boat Launch and parking lot will be closed for construction starting April 13, 2026. Work will take place Monday–Friday and is estimated to last 40 working days. NOTICE OF TRAIL CLOSURE -- Due to replacement of the 11th Street bridge over the Feeder Canal in Rock Falls, the adjacent trail area will be closed starting Monday, February 23rd until bridge construction is complete. Avoid this area, as there will be no trail access. NOTICE OF TRAIL CLOSURE -- Due to replacement of the IL Route 40 Highway Bridge, IL Rt. 40 will be closed at the Hennepin Canal during construction, as will the Hennepin Canal Parkway bike trail. The Route 40 detour will be in place until approximately August 10th. The bike trail will be closed while the contractor is performing work over the top of the trail to prevent a safety risk to bicyclists or pedestrians.
