North Carolina State Park
A meticulously restored pre-Civil War fort with daily guided tours and regular cannon and musket demonstrations. Outside the walls are a swimming beach, dune and salt-marsh trails, and more than 300 recorded bird species.
Free entry — There are no fees required to access Fort Macon State Park for day use. Fees are charged for certain event permits.
January–February: 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
March: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
April–May: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
June–August: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
September: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
October: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
November–December: 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
