About South Mountains State Park

Backcountry where the Appalachian Mountains meet the Foothills, rising to 3,000 feet past an 80-foot waterfall on nearly 50 miles of trail. The Jacob Fork River holds designated trout waters, and the separate Clear Creek access adds a lake.

Free entry — There are no fees required to access South Mountains State Park for day use. Fees are charged for camping, certain event permits, and facility reservations.

Hours

January–February: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

March–April: 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

May–September: 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

October: 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

November: 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

December: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The park is open during all other holidays.

Open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
