North Carolina State Park
Longleaf pines, some of them centuries old, towering over wiregrass in a remnant of the forest that once covered millions of acres across the Southeast. Look for red-cockaded woodpeckers, fox squirrels, pine snakes, and the insectivorous purple pitcher plant.
Free entry — There are no fees required to access Weymouth Woods Sandhills Nature Preserve for day use. Fees are charged for certain event permits and facility reservations.
January–February: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
March–October: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
November–December: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The park is open during all other holidays.
Open daily, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Discovery Room is open daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
