North Carolina State Park
Opened as the first North Carolina state park to welcome Black Americans, and still a community destination for swimming and picnicking. Tea-colored water hides a lake just eight feet deep, one of the elliptical Carolina bays whose origins remain unexplained.
Free entry — There are no fees required to access Jones Lake State Park for day use, except for boat rentals. Fees are also charged for camping, certain event permits, and facility reservations.
