Roadwork in the Lakeshore Campground and repaving of the East Entrance road will begin Monday, July 13, 2026. The campground will be closed for approximately two weeks while this work is ongoing. The East Entrance road will remain open to one-way traffic for access to day use areas. Please exercise caution while traveling through the park during construction. We apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to welcoming you once improvements are complete. Thank you for your understanding!
Ten of the park's thirty cabins stand on a pier out over Lake Marion, the largest lake in South Carolina, where a cypress forest still grows in open water. Limestone sinkholes dot the woods along more than ten miles of trail.
